So I wonder how much money people really have. I see people going out and throwing out wads of cash at the bar, at restaurants, etc. How many of these people really have money and how many of these people are living beyond their means? Everyone who is out at the bar every night cannot really have that much money. Trust me on this one.
I had my issues with credit cards in college. They force feed all these applications down your throat and as much as you don't want to use them, the allure of impressing people always overcomes. I have moved to a cash based means of living which has definitely taught me the value of a dollar, as cheezy as that sounds. I make sacrifices every day of things I want to buy, want to do, want to eat, etc because I know that the cash supply is limited. I forget how easy it was just to slide that piece of plastic through the reader and be out with whatever new toy, new shirt or meal that I wanted.
I see people all the time acting like they have a lot of money. I know the average salaries for some of these people and how much they use their credit cards. The math just does not work out. Now, I am not perfect but I have learned my lesson...the hard way. It allows me to notice these things. I see the people who spend a lot because they want people to think that they have more. These are the same people constantly increasing their debt while shifting it from one 6 month, 0% interest card to another. It saddens me that people are this materialistic and I am definitely one of them.
